Good morning,
Following our committee meeting last night I have been asked to let members know the current situation the Centre finds itself in with regard to carrying on and surviving into 2026.
The Centre has to form a committee to be able to run – current Club requirements is as follows. Chairman / Treasurer / Secretary and committee up to a total of 15. Minimum to carry on is 5, of which should be Chairman/Treasurer and Secretary plus 2 committee. This goes for committee meetings, less than 5 attending the meeting cannot undertake decisions, it’s just a discussion meeting.
The Centre can have 1 or 2 Vice-Chairman from the committee numbers, and the Rally Secretary is also taken from committee numbers.
We have run the last year with 9 committee members and it was indicated last night that 4 are undecided still, 4 are not standing for re-election, and one nomination was given for a committee position.
The vital roles we therefore need to cover are the Chairman/Treasurer and Secretary. Our current Chairman has indicated that he will stand down, having done a year extra to help the Centre survive for this year. Even if we had enough committee without someone taking on these major roles the Centre cannot move forward and may even go down the road of amalgamation with another Centre (if one was willing) through to complete closure (hibernation).
There is a cut-off date where decisions have to be made of Sunday 28th September at noon, when all nominations should be with the Centre Secretary. What we have received by then will determine if the AGM continues or we have to call a SGM (Special General Meeting). Nomination forms are in the handbook or email forms are available from secretary@suffolkcentre.co.uk but time should be allowed for email confirmation from any Proposer or Seconder to a nomination. All nominees must be registered members of this Centre, same as the Proposer and Seconder.
If any further information is needed please contact as soon as possible. I can answer probably 99% of questions – job roles, what time will it take up, what would someone be expected to do – and happy to do so.
Sincerely
Janet Dobson, Secretary
Suffolk Centre, CAMC
