DESCRIPTION:The Marshals are delighted to report that the fundraising event for Guide Dogs for the Blind received donations totalling £155 from those attending this rally. All the tea\, coffee\, cakes etc were donated by Morrisons Supermarket in Felixstowe\, plus they were also given a couple of prizes to raffle off. SUMMARY:Burns Supper 2017
DESCRIPTION:Our thanks go to Ron & Wendy\, Martin & Liz and Julie for putting on such a wonderful weekend for the (around) 90 members who participated in the Friday & Saturday evening events. It started on Friday with a cup of tea/coffee with the Marshals\, with a “dummy run” of the Scottish dancing for Saturday with the dance instructors to assist. \nSaturday evening started with a drink with the Marshals and then the “Piping of the Haggis” before we all settled down to a meal of haggis\, neeps and tatties with an alternative for those Sassenach’s for some reason didn’t appreciate the Bards meal. \nA “roll a pound for a bottle of Whiskey” raised £50 for the Lady Chairman’s Charity. The evening was enjoyed by all who took part in the Scottish dancing\, with liberal helpings of 8 year old Scotch Whiskey supplied by the Marshals. \nThe weekend was completed by a fine breakfast of Porridge\, toast\, tea and coffee the following morning. A terrific weekend that the Marshals will be repeating again in 2018.

SUMMARY:Summer Saxophone at Clopton Corner
DESCRIPTION:Summer Saxophone Indeed !!! \nOur sincere thanks to Trevor\, Sue\, Joe & Sheila for a brilliant weekend at Clopton. Knowing what these marshals put into their rallies we knew we were going to have a very good time and we did. \nOn Friday evening we had a carpet bowls knockout competition and guess what – we got quickly knocked out. Peggy Lee’s semi -secret tuition by Joe in the afternoon had obviously proved beneficial\, as the very competitive duo of Brian Southgate and she made sure that we progressed no further than the first round. It was a great fun evening providing plenty of laughs and some quick movements as some of the bowls strayed at speed from their intended course. \nSaturday evening saw us entertained by Maria Sutherland known as “Mariasax” and she was brilliant. SUMMARY:Breakfast at Newmarket
DESCRIPTION:“The Last Breakfast” at the Rowley Mile ? \nOur warmest thanks to Derek\, Sheena\, Tracy and David for another lovely Newmarket Rally. Sadly the last that Derek and Sheena will be marshalling\, but as Derek celebrated his 75th Birthday the Monday immediately following the rally\, they have decided to call time on what for very many years has been a very successful and well supported rally. \nVery noticeable this year was that Derek was lacking his bike to travel around the rally field for catch up chats with the ralliers. The choice of no bike was we understand\, intentional on Derek’s part\, and not as in previous years when David Kent may have temporarily mislaid it for him. Whilst the bike was missing this year\, Derek’s trademark pencil behind his right ear was not. Derek without a pencil – Never! \nJanice chaired the rally which had in attendance four past chairmen\, Derek and David of course together with David Rabjohn and Brian Southgate. \nDuring Flagpole\, Janice presented flowers to Gwen and Tony Robinson in recognition of their long time membership of the Suffolk Centre. \nA 450th Rally Plaque was presented to Janet and Alan Dobson. \nTo celebrate their 500th rally achievement\, the customary Suffolk Punch horse was presented to Jean and Malcolm Mortimer. \nOur congratulations to them all.\nChris & Maggie Sanderson \nMany thanks to Derek\, Sheena\, David and Tracy (plus numerous helpers) for a lovely weekend at Newmarket. SUMMARY:The Shotley Rose Pub Rally 2016
DESCRIPTION:Another venue we returned to after a few years break… \nDefinitely in my top 10 of rallies\, a wonderful venue for all ages\, the pub and locals were incredibly welcoming\, the field so large that the children could play ball games well away of the caravans\, lots of space between vans so awnings were up acting as sunshades in the lovely weather. A great circular walk from the site and around the marina\, checking out the other pubs of Shotley. All in all a fab weekend\, well done Marshals\, Nick \,Carole\, Trev & Sue. \nMandi Syrett \nHad great weekend thank to all Marshall. Yes the ferry is well worth trying. Don’t realise how beautiful our coast is. \nJan Hale \nThanks to the marshals for Shotley Rose this weekend. Can’t remember how long it’s been since we rallied there and had a really great walk down at the Marina. Well worth a visit for the day even – must try out the Shotley/Felixstowe/Harwich ferry next time. \nJanet Dobson \nHave just returned home from a lovely weekend rally at the shotley rose pub\, with great friends\, we would like to thank the marshals Carole\, Nick\, Sue & Trev for a great weekend roll on next year.\nThanks again \nDavid & Cathy Otto \nThank you to Nick and Carole\, Trevor and Sue for a lovely weekend at The Rose Pub Shotley. The first thing we noticed was how much the children had grown and how well they all played together. They were all so well behaved. \nThis was our first rally of 2016 and what fun we had. I had a face painting by Megan and Roy sent a picture by email to all the family. The craft morning was very busy making Easter baskets and the Dads joined in as well. The Beatle game was great and I managed to get 117 points and won a lovely chocolate chicken Easter egg. \nThe disco was a great evening and I believe there was a quiz later but I went to bed at 9pm but did manage a little dance with Janice. I would like to thank everyone for looking after us so well. I even had Mark & John as escorts on my way home on two nights. DESCRIPTION:A weekend of Um-Par… \nJust returned from a brilliant weekend at Hallowtree and the Oktoberfest Rally. Glorious weather and fantastic entertainment. Saturday evening saw a plethora of ralliers dressed up in their Lederhosen and various other outfits. The Colchester Band has us all swaying and singing all night\, they were really enthusiastic and played magnificently. \nThe Sausage supper was very tasty and the drinks were certainly flowing!!! A huge well done to the marshals\, Kim\, Nigel\, Jan and Paul…..your hard work clearly paid off. Can’t wait till next year (don’t know what to wear yet though!) \nSarah\, Andy and Rachel Pedder.

DESCRIPTION:Suffolk Punch Rally \nWe have just returned from the Suffolk Punch Trust Rally at Hollesley. We would like to personally Thank Tim\, Viv\, Katherine & David who main marshalled the venue & Janice & David Kent for chairing the Rally. We were all treated to Tea / Coffee on Thursday & cream tea on Friday with homemade scones\, Hedgerow Jam topped with fresh cream. Although the weather took a sharp turn for the worse with a huge downpour as the fun began\, we all snuggled up into two awnings & had some good fun exchanging stories about other funny caravanning experiences. Thankfully the field drained really well with the sandy soil so no one had any problems get on & off the field which slopes very slightly. \nThis is without a doubt a fantastic find for the centre & its members. With views across rolling fields & breath taking scenery across pure unspoiled open countryside\, what more could you ask for ? We recommend anyone who has never been before to try it next year ! The very reasonable rally fee included admission into the Trust centre throughout your stay where you can purchase a meal or simply have a nice freshly ground coffee. There was also a tractor trip around the Stud where a tour guide explained the important work they carry out to preserve the Suffolk Punch Horses. There was also the opportunity to get involved with some work required on the land for those who wanted to join in although I have to say the only brave ones willing in torrential rain was Viv & Tim so well done to them as they were soaked through to their skin on their return ! It was also lovely to see children attend with parents & Grandparents. Manor Caravan Park at Happisburgh may have suffered from the coastal erosion in recent years but the natural beauty of the area remains in tact. DESCRIPTION:A nice little find… \nWe attended the Hadleigh On The Hill Rally “Very Late” ( so Thanks to the marshals for excepting us at short notice) for the the first time\, thoroughly enjoying really good company as a family & the fantastic breath taking views of pure unspoiled open countryside all thanks to Trevor\, Susan Smith \,Joe\, Sheila Holmes and not forgetting Carole & Nick Harbottle as well as Sue’s Dear mum Beryl quietly beavering away behind the scenes ! They all worked so hard to feed us all with a truly lovely “Best” Sausages & Salad meal. We all gathered around the well organised lit up banqueting area provided with nice gentle atmospheric music playing in the background & had a good laugh / Food amongst lovely friends & like minded ralliers into the late evening. Another “Must Try” rally for people who have never tried or attended before\, like us. \nOur sincere thanks again to everyone who made it a memorable rally for us as a family – it’s very much appreciated. \nDarren\, Renee & Reece Fitch \nWonderful weather… \nWe love Hill Farm\, Hadleigh for the views and the warm sunny weather really helps. Many thanks to Rob for allowing us to use his field and the Centre members for supporting this event again this year. Thanks also to the late bookings which helped with numbers and certainly added to the atmosphere on 23 vans on site. Everyone was so friendly and even the dogs seemed to enjoy the walk round the perimeter of the site. Finally\, congratulations to Peggy & Roy for receiving their 50th rally plaque.
