When we arrived on Friday morning the
weather was very cold with a very fresh
wind, but the reception we received from our
marshals was welcoming and very warm.
We got set up and waited for the others to
arrive.
After a bite to eat in the evening we went
into the hall for a drink and a natter, and
of course a grope of the feely bags that
were strung out in one corner.
On the Saturday we had been
invited with Gary & Amanda and Deb & Vinnie
to a meal at The Swallow to celebrate Tony
and Sharon's 12th wedding
anniversary (it was really nice of them to
get married on my birthday).
The meal was very nice, and as we sat
finishing off our drinks we all decided to
pile into Makro's and have a look around.
We all bought a few little
things but Deb & Vinnie saw a bargain and
bought 2 new bicycles, now this is where the
problems started, it wasn't until we got
outside that we realised that the bikes
wouldn't fit in his car because we were
sitting in the back of his car, so Vinnie
drove Debbie, Mel and Tash back to the site
while I stood with the bikes in the freezing
cold wind, then returned with an empty car
to pick myself and the bikes up.
Saturday
evening and it was time for flagpole and a
superb ploughman's supper then dancing to
Paul's Plasma Disco.
In the early hours of Sunday morning Deb &
Vinnie received the news that they had been
waiting for all weekend that they were
Grandparents for the second time with a
grandaughter born at 3 am, congratulations
were the order of the day.
Sunday morning dawned and what a change, the
cold wind had dropped, the sun was shining
and it was a really nice day.
This prompted lots of the ralliers to try
their hands at archery, it was only due to
run until 12 noon, but it was so popular
that it stayed open until gone 1 pm and all
I can say is that Nick is a much better shot
than I am.
Many thanks to our marshals, Philip, Helen,
Paul & Graham Proctor and David & Jan
Stewart for another superb valentine's
rally.

and Tash Garrard
