We decided to go to this rally on the
spur of the moment, as our caravan came back
from having some warranty repairs done in
Basildon earlier than expected, so we rang
the marshals and luckily they had some
spaces available.
This was our first time at this site, having
only visited friends there before and we
were not disappointed.
The marshals greeted us warmly and escorted
us to our peg.
The site had obviously been heavily used
during the summer months as there were large
bald patches on the grass that the marshals
were being careful to avoid when pitching
the units.
Friday
night was spent watching TV (hook up is
great isn’t it) and playing cards.
Saturday morning dawned
bright and sunny, the marshals had laid on
tea, coffee and cake at eleven which was
very welcome and gave us a chance to chat
with old acquaintances.
After this we decided to go for a walk in
the forest, we found the “UFO” trail and
happily set off at a very leisurely pace
through the trees on the carefully prepared
paths, after an hour we were still walking
with no idea where we were in relation to
the caravans as all you can see is trees.
Another 20 minutes on and even I was
starting to feel tired, when out of nowhere
we popped up at the site again, what a
relief.
We got back to our van and even our faithful
pooch “Misjif” was so tired that for the
rest of the afternoon she just laid on her
bed and slept.
This was
followed by an restful evening, chatting and
nursing sore and aching feet.
Sunday
morning dawned bright and sunny again,
flagpole was held in glorious sunshine (nice
for this time of year).
We then leisurely packed up and trundled off
home.
Many thanks to the marshals for another
superbly run rally in a glorious setting.
