Chairman's
Disney Rally,
Mid Suffolk Showground,
Stonham Aspal
June 2008
We arrived
on site to be greeted by our marshals.
After we'd sited the van the boys went
and chose their colouring competition
pictures, took them back to the van and
started on them straight away. I made a
start on the adults anagram competition
whilst Nigel got the barbeque on.
Friday evening we met up in the marquee
where there were Disney films playing to
keep the children amused and tea and coffee
for the adults.
Saturday morning and the cinema opened
again. The first film was Toy Story which
Jack and Max watched before going back
outside to play. It was a glorious day so
we sat outside enjoying the sunshine,
drinking copious amounts of tea and coffee
and trying to figure out the rest of the
anagrams. Sadly the "cinema" had to close
as someone had decided to use the television
as target practice and cracked the screen.
Saturday evening
came and lots of Disney characters started
to appear. It was just like the Disney
Parade! Everyone had made a real effort
although my costume didn't cope too well
with the breeze (I was a playing card from
Alice in Wonderland). Jack was Captain Jack
from Pirates of the Caribbean, Max was Peter
Pan (and a very cute one at that!) and Nigel
was the magician from Fantasia.
Our marshals and
helpers cooked a really nice meal - burgers,
sausages, chicken and there was plenty of
salad to go with it. People drifted away
back to the caravans to enjoy the rest of
the evening.
Flagpole took place on Sunday and our
marshals appeared in their fancy dress
outfits once more. Jack was more than happy
when he found out he'd won the colouring
competition and we won a raffle prize too!
Thanks to Dave,
Tracy, Colin, Sue, Derek and Sheena for a
lovely weekend.
