Friday – We arrived in good time, having
missed the accident on the A12, and were
greeted by Janet Dobson although she was in
the middle of her Fish & Chips!
Alan Dobson sited us together with
his trainee Smithie.
That evening, although a bit chilly
we were soon warmed up by the Tea,
Coffee & biscuits and this was a
good chance for conversation and to
catch up with other ralliers. Amie
having eaten most of the chocolate
fingers, we decided that it was time
to retire to our van for a quick
board game and bed.
Saturday –
Having had breakfast and
having taken about ˝ an hour to decide on
the rules for the mornings competition, and
having explained them to everyone, Alan &
Tony got down to the serious side of the
event the Horseshoe throwing competition.
First up were John Purkis & Pam Scott and as
a gentlemen, that we all know John is, he
did not let Pam win!
Then it was the turn of the first children’s
round with Amie & Harry, again like John
above Harry went through. The Competition
continued with some fiercely rounds being
fought.
No Caravans, were damaged during the
competition which was a result in it’s self.
The final winners were Lauren for the
children and Dawn Youngs, for the adults,
having just beaten Keith Youngs, but he does
know his place!!
In the afternoon we were visited by
some local residents Samson –
Suffolk Punch & Sargeant – Shire
horse, the owner gave us a short
talk and the children enjoyed
stroking the horses.
We had some free time after, so we decided
to take a short drive out and visited Bury
St Edmunds, had a cup of tea and a cake. It
was market day and there were a lot of
stalls there.
Weather had improved during the afternoon
and the sun was out, BBQ’s were fired up,
back on site and wine/beer was flowing,
before it was time for bed.
Sunday –
Today started off like
Saturday, a bit overcast. People went out
for drives, short walks or were visited by
friends/families.
Flagpole was held in the afternoon and Mick
Prentice was obviously in practice for the
National or thought he was at Hintlesham
showing off his 5 a side football skills
with a cone, but unfortunately his missed
the goal by miles.
Over the weekend there was the
colouring competition, which we all
thought was for the children,
although you would not of thought it
from the line up, as ˝ of the
pictures were shown by young adults
or they could have been young
grandparents!
Anyway the winners of the colouring
competition were:-
Older children – Elle Youngs
Younger Children – Olivia Monroe
Monday –
Having rained
during the night, those that did not
take down their awnings, had nice
wet ones to take home!
Janet and marshals would like to
thank all those who helped get vans
off Rally field, by pushing, towing
etc, it was very much appreciated.
Many thanks to the marshals and
helpers for a pleasant May Bank
holiday.
