Annual Pig Roast and Summer Fete is a
favourite again...
Sheena and myself would like
to thank everyone who attended the pig roast
and made it such a great success for both
charities, to raise more than last year in
the present economic climate was truly
amazing.
The rally got off to good start with vans
waiting for the gates to open at 12 o`clock,
the very efficient team of marshals quickly
had them sited and the field soon filled up.
Sheena and myself again decided to run the
burger and hot dog stall on Friday evening
and with some help from David and Tracy had
sold almost 200 when we closed at nine
o`clock.
Saturday morning saw the field being
prepared for the afternoon fete with many
stalls set up we hoped for good weather but
although it stayed dry it was chilly and
overcast, however this did not stop everyone
enjoying the afternoon with the stalls doing
a brisk trade I spent the afternoon in the
stocks and by the end I was very wet and
cold but never mind all in a good cause.
It was then on to the pig roast with
everyone setting up there tables in front of
the marquee, at 6 o’clock all was ready and
service began, pork in a roll, potatoes,
rice and every salad ingredient you could
think of and really lovely crackling all
washed down with the famous pig roast punch.
On Sunday morning the marshals cooked a full
English breakfast for those who wanted it
then it was quickly on to flagpole where
Paul and Jan received their horse for
reaching 500 Suffolk Centre Rallies well
done Paul and Jan.
Can I thank you all again for your part in
making this rally such a success and the
marshals and helpers for all their hard work
not only during the rally but throughout the
year it has to be seen to be believed the
work that goes into making a rally like this
run so smoothly, again thank you all very
much.

*****************
We arrived
Friday evening about 5 ish and decided to
have a burger / hotdog that Derrick had
started to cook on his homemade BBQ, all
proceeds went to the chairman's charity. We
then went and had tea and coffee after our
burgers, (but one wasn't enough for some, so
some of us had 2). We then went and brought
our breakfast tickets for Sunday.
Saturday there was fun and games for the
children from 1.30 - 2.30 and then Derrick
and Sheena opened the summer fete. There was
quite a few stalls with a variety of things
to do or buy. The tombola proved popular
again, and Mandi the cakes were lovely. We
all then went back to our vans for a while.
We took our tables and chairs over to the
front of the marquee ready for the pig roast
which we started to queue for at about 6, we
handed our tickets in for our meals to our
chairman and then went to collect our food
from the helpers that where putting a
variety of salads etc on our plates and also
the most important thing our rolls with the
meat, stuffing and apple sauce (if you
wanted it). We then went into the marquee
after we had eaten for the traditional
punch, which again was lovely.
Sunday morning we had decided to go and have
a breakfast that was cooked by the marshals
at 10am, it was enjoyed by all. Flagpole
followed at 12.30 which included the raffle
(which as usual we didn't win anything) and
then we decided to go for a stroll to the
marina and by the time we got back it was
time to pack up and go. We all had a really
good weekend and enjoyed everything that was
going on so we would like to say a really
big thank you to Paul and Jan and all the
Marshals and helpers for a lovely weekend.

We
have evidence of a dubious looking bloke who
was on a stall at the pig roast.
It was a superb rally and fete which raised
a huge sum of £2,200.00 for our chosen
charities. Many thanks to all who donated
items and prizes and supported the Pig
Roast.
