We arrived on site early
Friday evening and unfortunately brought a
shower or two with us. It had been fine and
sunny all day but trust us to bring along
the clouds.
Peewit Caravan Park is a regular venue in
the Suffolk Centre rally programme and so
many improvements have been made to the site
over the years. As with many commercial
sites, we share with other static caravans
and campers, making it interesting to see
all the giant static vans and a few tents in
the next field.
Saturday morning started cloudy but soon the
sun broke through and ralliers got their
chairs out to make the most it. The rally
was again full this year with some 37 units
all spaced out and all with electric hook-up.

The caravans near us
benefited from the shade of the fresh green
willow trees. Unfortunately Sheila was woken
by a thud in the night and an unwelcome
pigeon made a substantial deposit on the
front of her van. I am sure its wasn't a
Peewit !
Despite this small setback the juniors were
able to safely play and we were able to keep
an eye on them too. Liam and Jack were
having great fun on the slide. |

The park is quiet and secluded and lends
itself to some gentle relaxation with a book
or two to while away the hours. There was of
course, plenty of time to chat and remember
the old days when Frank and Connie helped
run the rally. And of course, exchange funny
stories about how Brian once got stuck in
the mud here at Peewit. Some of us have very
good memories for that kind of thing ! |

During the
afternoon a table top sale was held in the
site meeting room. Many small items of
craft, plants, bits and bobs were on sale. I
had a rummage through a few tools outside
under the marquee. We spent a few minutes
staring at the fish in the pond before
returning to our vans. Some of the group
went for a walk down to the beach. To the
joy of some, a car boot sale was found and
more shopping was enjoyed in the bright
sunshine.

The decision to barbecue was
made by two very excited adult males that
have been waiting for weeks for the
opportunity to set fire to some good quality
steak and a couple of packets of posh
bangers from Tescos. Out came all the
equipment. I had forgotten how to put mine
together but Steve came to the rescue and
before we knew it, the gas was alight and
the smell was mouth-watering. We had
forgotten just how much fun a bloke could
have in the outside kitchen ! |

The
evening turned chilly so most ralliers moved
inside and warmed themselves before it was
time for the regular flagpole. The Don
Alcock award was presented to Joy and Andy,
a 650th rally plaque was awarded to Anthea
and Brian and a 150th Rally plaque was
awarded to Beryl, Brian and Alex. They are all
regular ralliers that have been supporting
the Suffolk Centre for many years.

Sunday morning the weather turned damp and
more unsettled. Rain set in and although
some were brave enough to venture down to
the Felixstowe Sunday Market, others decided
to start packing up and soon the gaps
appeared on the rally field.
Peewit really is a lovely setting. I would
recommend that you keep an eye on next
year's rally programme, as it is almost
certain we will be back there again next year.
A very big thank you to rally marshals,
Hazel & John and Janet & Alan for a very
nice rally indeed.
