Well what a good weekend we
had. I arrived Friday morning in the
wonderful March sunshine. After I had
pitched my van, I brewed up and sat outside
for the first time this year and ate my
cheese roll and drank my tea. It was lovely
sitting in the warm sunshine and looking
around at the grass we had been pitched on
behind Ringshall Village Hall.
Friday evening saw most ralliers had arrived
and into the hall we went where Eve and Mick
Prentice with Nina and John Taylor had set
up and organized an evening of carpet bowls.
Well I don’t know about you but I had never
had a go at this game. So in for a penny....
down went Val and my name on the list of
players.
I had difficulty
understanding why there was this round piece
of white wood halfway down the carpet that
got in the way. Almost everybody managed to
propel the bowl on either side of it and
still stay within close proximity of the
little white ball aptly called the Jack.
Bob and Rosanna Waterson excelled as usual
at this sport and did very well but were
knocked out by the victorious Derek Pannell
and John Taylor.
Friday night was a very cold
night and this brought frozen water
containers and frost on the outside of our
gas bottles even when stored in the front
locker.
Saturday dawned to a frosty start with
bright sunshine but with a bitterly cold
wind that stayed with us all day.
Saturday night saw flagpole
chaired by Derek Pannell followed by a light
hearted quiz which kept us all together in
the nice heated hall.
Sunday arrived and The Natter
and Chatter commenced at 10.30am, this was
well attended by many ralliers.
Displayed around the hall were many photos
showing the sports teams from last years
National Rally, also the building of last
years decorated vehicle entry.
Ideas were required for this years entry and
a list was up inviting members to add there
suggestions.
After a good natter things came to an end
and we made our way back to the vans for a
spot of lunch, pack away and off home, till
the next rally.
Many thanks to our marshals for the weekend
Dave and Tracy Totman and Colin and Sue
Bergdahl.
