81st NATIONAL RALLY
HOLKHAM HALL
WELLS NEXT THE SEA
NORFOLK

Spring Bank Holiday Weekend 2008

Message from the SCCC Chairman

David and Tracy would like to thank all the members that attended the National Rally at Holkham Hall for all their support. We would also like to thank our CLO's who once again worked very hard with increased numbers of Suffolk Centre members attending.

Congratulations and well done to all our competitors. We hope you enjoyed the rally as much as we did.

Rally Report from Holkham Hall   by the Webmaster

The weather was fine and clear. Quite a shock as the last few years had been mainly rain and mud. On arrival the lines were organised and clear. We made our way down the long entrance road with a tinge of excitement and not knowing what to expect. We arrived at about 9.30am on Friday so there was just a few keen ralliers setting up followed by a stream of vans all day, filling in the spaces around us.

We had a great view of Holkham Hall from our window and the wind was blowing the sounds of the PA system. We could hear announcements, along with the cheers from the crowds as they played various sports.

Rally Radio turned out to be quite a "must have". We found the radio station and tuned in our on-board radio and we got used to listening to Dave and Roger in the mornings. They were a real laugh.

The market stalls were just what we all wanted. Everything from a tow bar to a pair of flip flops. Something for everyone.

The sports were well supported again and the five a side match was a real thriller with goals being scored at both ends. The tug of war was very competitive again this year and our lads gained respect from the crowd as they made successful pulls. Congratulations to Mark and Oliver Eves for being the first Suffolk Centre members back from the fun run.

Best of all for me was the venue itself. The Holkham Estate far exceeded my expectations and what a wonderful feeling it would be to look out onto these gardens every morning with the deer walking around.

The shows in the marquees were voted as brilliant !  Some of our friends went to a show every evening. They ranged from comedians to ABBA and Celine Dione tribute bands.

I have uploaded a few pictures for you to enjoy. If you would like to add to these, please email them to webmaster@suffolkcentre.co.uk
