Well that’s another fine rally gone by. The
Pre National Rally at Hintlesham was just
as it says on the packet, its just before
the National. Friday came with beautiful
warm sunshine to welcome all the ralliers.
Once pitched all were invited to the
marshals rather large gazebo which was in
fact the size of three gazebos put together.
Everyone was served with tea ,coffee and
biscuits.
Saturday dawned with early rain but that
soon cleared and seeing the volleyball net
and netball posts in place games just had to
be played.
Saturday afternoon saw the building of the
Flintstones car, the Suffolk Centres entry
in the decorated vehicle competition at the
National Rally. There was building, making,
painting, varnishing and gluing bits
together and when almost complete it looked
superb. When its put together at Tatton Park
lets hope that it takes first prize.
The rain did come down by the bucket full
and I could see why Sheena had spent the
money on the gazebo, it kept us all dry till
the rain stopped.
An enjoyable quiz was contained in the
welcome pack this tested our knowledge of
Suffolk, as I come from London I didn’t know
a thing !
A communal BBQ was held and
Gary kept the BBQ going as the youngsters
were cooking marshmallows on sticks. Tierney
completed the first round of "How many
marshmallows can I get in my mouth without
choking" – further news on this sport to
follow. Will it turn out to be an Olympic
event – who knows ?
Chris and Linda showed off their new car and
van and Linda enjoyed a small celebratory
drink on Saturday night.
Sunday saw flagpole arrive to be chaired by
our centre chairman Dave Totman with Tracy.
Them to pack up and go home till the next
rally.
A super rally enjoyed by all, many thanks to
our marshals without them drinking would not
seem the same.
