What a fun weekend ! And as
for the games.... there was plenty to
do or just watch if like me the volleyball
on Saturday morning was just too much like
hard work.
How many people does it take to get a ball
over the net when playing Volleyball ?
Well, I lost count but everyone was laughing
and I am sure the final score was a well
earned draw ! Just look at the action shots
I managed to take... with a few
exceptions of course.

The gazebos were welcome
shade on Saturday afternoon when the fun and
games started in earnest.
Kim's "feely bags" were
excellent again this year but we have asked
her to go on a sewing course because some of
the items ended up peeping out of the
stitching!
I am sure that one of the bags contains a
sandwich that I left last Tuesday. It
was just as dry and crispy! The other
items were just as teasing and by the way
Bob... you were thinking of a "treasury
tag"
but your description was perfect.

There were 20 or so children on the rally
and who would have known it?
They were all busy enjoying themselves on
the rally field and Jack was again giving
lessons in how to score 100 with a golf ball
and club. It was an interesting modern
version of what I knew at school to be
"marble arch". I was never any good at that
either.
The welly throwing turned out
to be the most competitive game in my
opinion. Several of the men spent a long
time to perfect their technique whilst Nigel
seemed to have "the knack" even when
throwing against the wind! Every time
I see Nigel now, I will shout "MIND YOUR
HEADS!!"
In the ladies competition one or two "minus"
scores were noted as the welly landed in the
watching crowd but Sheena was able to show us
how it is done. It just goes to show how
much fun people can have with one Wellington boot !
It was noted that some of the ladies did
better than Trevor. What a poor show Trev,
just 17.5 metres!

With
flagpole at 6pm on Saturday evening, we all
gathered together for a communal barbeque.
Windbreaks were hammered in and the barbeque flames
were lit, followed by an appetising aroma
of cooking. Poor Martin had to open three
bottles of wine before he could fine one fit
to drink. It must have done the trick though
because he managed to do very well on the
Lawn Darts competition. The darts were still
flying as night fell and gradually we all
retired back to our vans.
Sunday was again hot and sunny. What a brilliant weekend. Many thanks to
Den, Val, Nigel, Kim and their helpers for a
great time.
