It was an exciting start to the season as
three of us had new vans. After an
embarrassing start, not knowing quite how
our van worked, we had a lovely weekend. So
many more switches and buttons, all in
different places.
We had wanted to put up the awning whilst
there was a few helpful hands around. Some
happy souls preferred to stand and watch as
the fabric was pushed round the rail and the
poles were sorted and separated.
It took just twenty
minutes to complete the job by tapping in a
few pegs and making those final adjustments.
Time for a cup of tea.

After a lazy start to Saturday, we had a
lovely walk across fields to Flatford,
although the trees were not quite in bloom,
the scenery was beautiful. We saw the first
swallows of spring flying around us, which
is always a good sign. We wandered past
Willy Lott's Cottage and Flatford Mill, then
passed a pleasant B&B along the lane. At the
junction was a bridge on the left, where
brave rowers were on the river amongst large
numbers of mallards and a pair of swans.
On the
right was a visitors' information centre
with everything you need to know about the
area. Some of our group decided that they
had walked far enough and had tea, coffee
and hot chocolate in the little cafe. I
joined the rest of the group and we walked
as far as Dedham, where Joe bought the
important buy of the day... his
newspaper.
Cream teas were served by the Marshals at
4pm on Saturday and ralliers all gathered
round to hear who had won the Grand National
sweep. Four lucky winners were announced and
the crowd all cheered.

Upon
return to our caravan, it was a last chance
to complete the competition. We all had our
sheets and I am not sure if we were cheating
by using a map or not !!??
At flagpole on Sunday, the winner was
announced and sadly it wasn't us. We managed
to get all but two of the answers correct
but seven ralliers got the lot !
Saturday
evening was spent in our vans playing games.
We have all been practicing the art of
Rummikub so we are bound to have a Rummikub
challenge later in the season. The sky was
very attractive and although rain
threatened, none materialised. Were were not
worried, the weekend had been bright and
sunny, despite a chilly breeze that make a
warm fleece essential.

We can't wait to get back out on the rally
field again. It was a great weekend.
Thanks to the Rally Marshals, Dave &
Tracy and Colin & Sue.
