5pm Daddy and myself turn up
to Sutton to meet Nanny and granddad the
strange thing is that we had this white
thing follow us all the way here. Daddy set
to work feeding this strange monster with
water and gas, he did use some very bad
words when the front of the white thing
bashed him on the head and he used the same
bad words again about the amount of water
Mummy seems to use. I went inside this
strange white beast and went to sleep, as
this is my favourite hobby.
Thursday
Well the strangest thing happened when I
went home yesterday there were two of these
things that the grown ups call “Caravans”
and now there are 30+ this is what happens
when you leave two caravans on there own I
guess. Anyway there is a very big wind
blowing so I stay in the van to keep an eye
on Mummy and Nanny as they tend to wonder
off at that age, Daddy is out side with all
the other mad ones putting yet more vans to
bed. Later that night I am wrenched from my
van by Mummy as she is giddy at the prospect
of bingo and she has trouble containing here
excitement at the thought. There were lots
of prizes which all the people gave and then
they paid money to buy bingo books to try
and win their stuff back, very strange this
caravanning business. Still they raised
over £ 70, plus Granddad and Daddy kept
giggling at naughty jokes they kept telling
each other whilst the other one was trying
to be sensible.
Friday My first
night in the van I woke up once I was hungry
plus mummy and daddy like me waking them up
I am sure. In the morning Mummy and Nanny
stuffed themselves full with hot cross buns
and tea whilst daddy and granddad went on an
artic walk this is not how daddy described
it but I don’t know what those words meant
and they can’t be printed anyway. In the
afternoon I helped my Dad set up the disco I
did this by sleeping but I still kept an eye
on him in case he slacked off. That night at
the disco I had fun looking at all the
lights and kept dancing. All these people
kept coming up and saying hello, Nanny kept
taking me off on mystery tours to see
different people they were all very
friendly. Daddy did say that he would offer
me the caravan club rate for his disco if I
ever wanted to run a rally any time soon, so
I will think about that.
Saturday
First thing daddy had to go
home to do some work but he was soon back
something to do with some out if date gin
one of granddad’s friends gave him after the
disco. At 12 Uncle Albert (David Godfrey)
lead a band of brave souls in a walk in
artic conditions but luckily they all came
back safely. The afternoon was taken up by
more sleeping as I see it I have to have
lots of naps so I have enough energy for my
main sleep at night. Daddy and the rest of
the marshals set up the horse racing event
for that night. We stayed for the first 3
races that night but daddy had to go to
work.
Sunday
Woke up for the Grand Prix
and had to get daddy ready so he could help
with the cooking of breakfasts. Daddy went
ahead so he could help I stopped to keep an
eye on mummy she is still a bit giddy from
the horse racing.
Dave and granddad decided it would be a very
good idea to cook in a blizzard they are
both mad, unlike a nice man called Derrick
Panel who is the master of egg cooking who
decided to cook indoors. Lots of people come
to have their breakfasts cooked by granddad
and his friends and they raised yet more
money. All this time it was snowing I don’t
like the snow but daddy does and so did all
the older kids who played in the snow. I
supervised the setting up of the hall I have
a unique management style I tend to sleep
and let the others get on with it. The hall
was set up for the 1960’s tea party there
was lots of nice food but I just had the
milk. At flagpole there were lots of
important things said by lots of people, but
the things I took note of were the dealer
day at Stowmarket Caravans and the sports
rally. I got my first rally plaque and
granddad got a horse for 500 rallies from
Brian Southgate and plaque for 600 rallies.
That night we had a very loud band called Mr
j. They were very good and all the grown ups
danced the night away and nobody threw a hip
out so that was good. When the band had to
be fed and changed we had a cabaret, we had
some very good dancers in the form of the
Keith Youngs dancers and we then had a nice
lady sing some songs. Dad helped by playing
the CD tracks on his gear.
Monday
This was the day of the
carpet bowls final you could cut the air
with a knife. Must have been all those eggs
served for tea the night before. Then I
helped pack up all the stuff and load
daddy’s car. I took mum for a walk and it
started snowing again. We had a nice tow
home and I got back to sleeping.

Rally Marshals may not have fire extinguishers available on the
rally field in future.
From October 2009 it will be a Suffolk Centre
recommendation that all caravans attending a rally should have a "fire bucket" filled with water adjacent to their "A" frame.
It is recommend that you have a fire extinguisher and fire
blanket in your caravan in case of emergency and regularly check
the batteries in your smoke alarm.
