Butley Rally 2010

Mothers Day Rally
Butley

March 2010

Has spring really sprung ??

Last year we set the Butley rally as our pointer for the start of spring. This year, the winter seems to have dragged on and on, so it was a real delight to be able to walk about the rally field with a light jacket in the sunshine.

This weekend is the first rally of the season for many of our friends and this always presents additional challenges. The winterised caravans are uncovered, refilled with fluids and are brought out for the first time in quite a while.

Dart players were all gathered on Friday evening in the hall and a number of us just couldn't get the hang of it and like me, made our excuses and returned to our refreshments for natter and chatter. The knockout competition continues and the finals were played on Saturday morning. The winners of ladies competition was Beryl Garrod and the men's competition was John Preston.

The picture competition was very popular again this year and we had to guess the names of the groups from the pictures drawn by ralliers and displayed in their caravan windows. I still don't know what some of them were but the artwork was quite brilliant.

There were plenty of opportunities to chat and catch up over a cuppa, as the marshals seemed to have the tea urn switched on with a constant flow of refreshments. The Saturday evening social was up to the usual brilliant standard and everyone was dancing the night away. In the morning, a few slight hangovers were soon forgotten when the sun shone again and we all planned our next weekend out together.

Well done to our rally marshals, Tony & Sharon, Gary & Amanda, Vince & Debbie.

Trev, Sue & friends.

I felt I should email this picture of the lovely group of children we had on the Butley rally.

They were all so well behaved and had so much fun that I could not resist sending this to you. If possible could you post this in your next newsletter saying a big thank you to them all from everybody.

Thank you so much Sophie Turkentine and all the other parents.
