We arrived about 5.30 on Friday evening and
got set up and had our tea. We all went over
to the hall for tea and coffees at 8.00pm
where we were entertained by new ralliers
Mick and Lorraine. Mick played his bagpipes
to some tunes that had a beat to them with
the help of Lorraine and Martin on the
drums, this was a very unexpected surprise
to the ralliers and the marshals.
On Saturday morning we all enjoyed our
porridge which was just right, it was then a
do as you please day, we then had to be over
the hall for 6.00pm to sit down for our meal
at 6.30pm which consisted of
vegetable/scotch broth soup and a bread roll
(which was lovely) and then the haggis was
piped in by Ben, followed by Norma carrying
the haggis and Martin with the whisky. The
haggis was then addressed by Anne McGarva
from the Norfolk Centre. We then toasted the
haggis with a dram of whisky which was
donated by our chairman Derek and his wife
Sheena. Then we had our main course of
haggis, cauliflower cheese, swede and mashed
potato, this was also very filling and
lovely, once the marshals had their dinners
a desert followed of scotch pancakes with
raspberries and cream these where also very
nice and filling.
Flagpole took place after our meal about
9.30pm. When it was finished we where
entertained again by Ben on his bagpipes
and Martin on his drum, they where then
joined a bit later by Mick on his
bagpipes and Lorraine on her drum, they
all played some tunes that I have never
heard bagpipes and drums play before
this was very entertaining and different
and really worth the wait.
We would like to thank Mick, Lorraine,
Martin and Ben for making both evenings
entertaining, and a big thank you to
Dave and Norma, Keith and Dawn and Ron
and Wendy and there helpers for lovely
food and as usual a lovely rally.
