The weekend didn’t start
well, with getting stuck in the A14 traffic
jam at the Orwell bridge roadworks.
Thankfully that was the only bad thing about
the whole weekend.
We arrived on site Friday afternoon to find
our friends already setting up having
arrived a few minutes before us; we pitched
up next to them and quickly got the van set
up.
Tea & coffee was provided by the marshals
Friday evening in glorious sunshine, which
was followed by a evening of chatting with
Trev & Sue under our canopy, we shared one
of my favourite tipples, namely Spiced Jenny
Mead, and unfortunately as the cork was
damaged when I opened it we felt that we
just had to finish it off, after all you
can’t throw good stuff like that away !!

Saturday morning dawned hot and sunny again,
and with a thick head from the night before.
The order of the day was breakfast first on
the BBQ, bacon eggs and toast; you can’t
beat a good healthy start to the day.
Sue, Mel
and the girls went in search of a car boot
sale while Trev and I busied ourselves with
a game of boulle.
Dinner time beckoned then it
was off into the town to watch the carnival
procession, which was very well supported
with a lot of well decorated floats, this
was followed by a nose around the local
shops.
Eventually we made our way
back to vans where the girls decided to have
a water fight between themselves which
gradually escalated to most of the youth on
the rally as they decided to join in too, at
least they all kept cool.
Evening came and we had a joint BBQ,
followed by more nattering under our canopy
and then we retired to our van as it got
chilly and finished off the night with a
game of UNO that got progressively sillier
as we got further through a
bottle of malt whiskey, luckily by the time
we finished the bottle the game came to an
end too as I don’t think I could have
concentrated on the cards for much longer.

Sunday morning dawned hot and
sunny yet again and with an even thicker
head than Saturday morning. Another healthy
breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast was
quickly followed by flagpole in glorious
sunshine.

A lazy day was in order as we
were in no hurry to rush off. We had another
game boulle and generally lazed around
nattering until it was time to pack up and
head off home.
Thanks to the marshals for a
super weekend and whoever was responsible
for organising the weather, you should do it
for every rally !!
