Once again, Bredfield was the venue for
an excuse to dress up and make fools of
ourselves. It hardly seems like 12 months
since we dressed in our war-time attire and
this year the theme was "Disney".
The rally field was in remarkably good
condition considering that May had been so
wet. The weather had turned now though and
this weekend was to be very warm and sunny.
At 8pm on Friday, we all went to the hall
and enjoyed teas, coffees and biscuits. We
talked about where the Bredfield Church Fete
was being held and what we were going to
wear to the social on Saturday. It seemed
there was plenty to keep us entertained
again this
weekend.
At 2.15pm on Saturday, the Bredfield Village
Fete was officially open and all the locals
walked round numerous stalls with items for
sale, games, ice creams and the grand
auction. The sun was so warm that we had to
look for occasional shade from the wonderful
trees and shrubs in the gardens. I spent
ages rummaging through books and DVDs.

I was determined to
find a bargain, whilst little Liam (the son
of my Niece) was obviously an old hand and
he is only 10 years old. He was
negotiating at every opportunity and had
quite a collection of factual books under
his arm.
We remembered the "bargains"
that Joe was able to uncover last year. If
you saw my rally report you will recall that
Joe uncovered a rare and very desirable
antique and he was full of enthusiasm again
this year. In reality, the only person that
thought it was rare and valuable was Joe,
but we had a lot of fun talking about his
discovery. Unfortunately he lost his touch
this year, and returned to his caravan with
just a few decorative drinking glasses.
It was time to start
transforming ourselves and getting ready for
the meal being prepared for us by our
marshals. Once again, Terry, Joy, Dave and
Norma were very busy in the kitchen. I
noticed a little extra help was provided
Tracy, Leslie and a few others to ensure all
the meals were ready in good time. Our chefs
for the evening were slaving away in the
shade of the building whist we all "mmmm"ed
and "aaarrrr"ed as the smells of barbecued
food came into the hall.
It took the lads a while to get all the
burgers, sausages and steaks cooked and
served but it was well worth the wait. This
was all topped with some scrumptious
deserts. What a treat !
Whilst all this cooking and hard work was
going on, a large number of ralliers had
dressed up as Disney characters. They ranged
from Alice in Wonderland to Snow White and
the Seven (I think there was at least seven)
Dwarfs.

Flagpole
was held at 8pm, led by our Rally Chairman
Dave Totman, suitably dressed for the
occasion. I was too embarrassed to ask him
for a photograph but if anyone has one, I
will pay good money for it !! hehe..
A parade was called and the Dwarfs were all
singing "HI HOOOO !!" very loudly and
a few were being quite naughty as they
walked round the hall. Everyone was giggling
so much that John & Ursula were finding it
very difficult to judge a winner. The junior
winner was one of the seven dwarfs and the
adult section was won by The Mad Hatter from
Alice in Wonderland.
The rest of the evening was a mix of
dancing, chatting and relaxing. Well done
everyone, it was a terrific evening.
Sorry we didn't get pictures of everyone
during the evening, but if you have photo's
of the Disney characters we would like to
see and share them.
Our thanks go to the marshals and their
helpers for a terrific weekend. Not
forgetting the residents of Bredfield for a
super village fete and we hope you raised
lots of money for the Church building work.
