The Free n Easy Rally

August 2011

Excitement for Chocoholics....

Many thanks to rally marshals
Steve, Tina, Graham & Thena. We were so looking forward to your first rally as main marshals. You have supported so many other events and volunteered for al sorts of jobs over the years so it gave everyone a huge thrill to congratulate you on "your " successful rally.

The day started hot and steamy on Friday with lots of peaceful sitting around with a good book and a cool drink. Whilst the rally field gradually filled with around 20 vans, the friendly atmosphere grew and almost everybody turned up for refreshments with he Marshals during Friday evening. We were thrilled with the new idea of having a mug of HOT CHOCOLATE and of course cream and sprinkles on the top. I think I may bring some mini marsh mallows next year, so I can be really over the top !  It was a really nice twist to the regular tea and coffee that many of the group seemed to enjoy.

The Saturday hot, steamy, humid day was not for the feint hearted. Just walking to collect water was a real effort. However the Blaxhall Summer Fete seemed to attract even more local visitors than previous years and although there seemed to be fewer stalls this year, the turnout was impressive. Having topped up his cupboard with alcohol for the season with bottles from the Tombola, Steve Garrard swaggered around the field looking pleased with himself. Why is it that all I seem to win is a bottle of lemonade and a bottle of ketchup ??!!

We sat outside long into the evening, chatting and sharing stories. Until the conversation became all very technical. Again led by Steve Garrard and Tina holding their iPhones against the dark sky, tracking stars and satellites across the sky. Then came the quote of the week from Sue.... "I never knew satellites had lights on them !! ".  Well we all fell about laughing and I am sure the entire rally field must have heard us.

Packing up on Sunday came all too soon. We had a lovely weekend and didn't want it to end. Well, we will just have to do it all again next year !  Well done to the rally marshals for making this weekend such a brilliant one.

The Blaxhall Ralliers

**********

What a lovely time was had by everyone attending the Blaxhall rally. The marshalls pulled our all the stops to ensure that we enjoyed ourselves. When they made drinks for us, they included hot chocolate {with squirty cream on top}. After flagpole we had more delicious treats, as Thena had baked mouth-watering cakes. The weather was very kind to us as well, we only had a little rain at tea time on Saturday.

Many thanks to Tina, Steve, Thena & Graham Eagle for a lovely rally.

Beryl & Brian Garrod

**********

We have just returned home from our very first rally as rally marshals at Blaxhall and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended our rally and making it fun to do.

From all the marshals, Tina, Steve, Thena & Graham.
